Kong Art Directors at LA event
Garfeimao writes: Cinematheque will be hosting two events the day before the
Oscars. One for the film editors, and one for the Art directors nominated
for Oscars, which includes Grant Major and Dan Hennah. From
americancinematheque.com: Presented by the American Cinematheque in
association with the Art Directors Guild and the Set Decorators Society of
America. A panel discussion with this year's Academy Award-nominated
Production Designers and Set Decorators, moderated by Art Directors Guild
President Thomas A. Walsh. With Jim Bissell (art) & Jan Pascale (set) (Good
Night, and Good Luck); Stuart Craig (art) & Stephenie McMillan (set) (Harry

Date Movie Goofs on KongisKing Production Diaries
They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery (cough*Superman*cough),
but this is down right spoofage! Seems the folks making 'Date Movie', a
comedy spoofing all the latest romance flicks, is spoofing KongisKing
Production Diaries as well! They have 8 production diaries complete with a
very own 'Peter Jackson' look alike. Now remember, these are the same folks
that brought you 'Scary Movie', so expect some adult themes and outright
grossness...if you are easily offended run away! If not...pass around the
Kong Snot.

Kong Wins at BAFTA Awards
BAFTA 2006 King Kong won only 1 award at the BAFTAs (British Academy of Film
and Television Arts) awards tonight (February 19th) in the UK. Joe Letteri,
Christian Rivers & Richard Taylor were on hand to collect the award (no idea
where Brian Van't Hul was) for best Achievement in Special Visual Effects.

PPD's on King Kong 2 Disc edition!
Universal Studios Home Video has finally released the long awaited specs and
features for Peter Jackson's "King Kong (2005)", the remake of the 1933
original, which stars Naomi Watts, Jack Black, Adrien Brody and Andy Serkis,
onto DVD. The disc will arrive in three editions- both separate Widescreen
and Full Screen Single-Disc Editions and a 2-Disc Special Edition DVD. Each
will carry an English Dolby Digital 5.1 audio track and optional English
SDH, along with English, Spanish and French subtitles. Extras on the single
disc edition will include two featurettes. The 2-Disc edition will include
over 3 hours of footage. "King Kong" (2005) is yours to own when it hits
store shelves March 28, 2006.

KONG HISTORY: King Kong is back. In 2005, writer/director Peter Jackson, the
man responsible for "The Lord of the Rings" Trilogy, will direct a new,
large-scale remake featuring a monstrous computer generated ape to be
created by Jackson's special effects company, WETA Digital. However, Kong's
origins lay long ago, towards the beginning of the last century in fact.
